This week, British Columbia (BC) and Manitoba invited more people to apply for provincial nominations, which can help them become permanent residents in Canada.
In addition, Alberta shared the latest numbers for profiles in their candidate pools under different streams of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
British Columbia (BC)
On January 28, 2025, the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited at least two foreign entrepreneurs under the Entrepreneur Immigration Streams. These entrepreneurs plan to start a business in BC.
BC issued at least one invitation under both its Base and Regional Entrepreneur streams. To be invited, candidates needed a minimum score of 123 in both streams.

How Invitations Work in BC:
- Regional Entrepreneur Stream: Invitations are sent almost every month. Only entrepreneurs referred by a participating community are considered.
- Base Entrepreneur Stream: Invitations happen less often and depend on several factors like the business location, community size, or type of business (startup or existing).
Manitoba
On February 6, 2025, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 76 candidates in two draws under the International Education Stream and the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream.
Summary of Invitations:
- International Education Stream: 59 invitations were sent to candidates with at least 4 years of full-time work experience in the past 5 years. They also needed to submit proof of their work experience.
- Skilled Worker Overseas Stream: 17 invitations were sent to candidates through a “strategic recruitment initiative.” They needed a minimum score of 612 to qualify.
Among the 76 invitations, 18 candidates had valid Express Entry profiles, giving them an extra advantage.
Alberta
Alberta’s immigration program, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), recently shared how many candidate profiles are in their pools. Alberta hasn’t held any draws yet in 2025.
